Child and Family Services
Early head start + early learning centers
Early Head Start is a community-based program serving families and children from birth to age three and women who are pregnant. Services are provided at no cost to eligible families.
Child and Family Services include:
- Early childhood education in licensed child development classrooms.
- Education and support in family homes.
- Family resource centers in Alexander, Burke, and Caldwell counties.

In-Home Education Programs
Early childhood educators help strengthen the relationships between infants, toddlers and their families by promoting parent and child interactions in developmental learning activities.

Family Resource Centers
Our Family Resource Centers offer regular play groups that keep the interests of young children and their families in the forefront.



Children have the opportunity for creative expression through art, music, and movement as well as opportunities to climb, tumble, build, cook, and listen to stories.
